                    April 12, 1945
Six days following the receipt of the secret orders directing the squadron to proceed to the West Coast, the squadrons personnel boarded a Troop Transport Train and left Greenville, NC

   Present at the departure was Maj. V.C. Ullman, Commanding Officer of VMD-954. Also in attendance, were family members and friends of the squadron personnel and the townspeople, to bid the squadron farewell and good luck.
